"Standing at the tuyere, even a pig can fly." The sentence belongs to Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi. For most of the last decade it was pinned on the walls of Chinese venture capital offices like a prayer. The meaning: catch the wind and get rich — don't worry about the pig.
I did something simple. I took the pigs down. I dried them into strips. I hung them on tree branches.
Drying takes time. The first week, water leaves. The second week, the color darkens. By the third week there is a smell — not the one you expect, sweet, slightly smoky. Flies come. Crows come.
The background shows a high-rise residential building. The sun is still shining, birds are still flying, and the building remains intact.
When the wind stops, the pig is still meat.
