A Pig Flying in the Wind
2025
Instollation

The work visually presents the carnival of capital and its remnants, deconstructing the false prosperity promoted beneath the surface of China's rapidly developing real estate economy. It reveals the tragic reality of the "pigs in the wind" falling from their cloud of illusion into ruins (meat strips) once external momentum is lost. The core of the artist's expression lies in embodying the abstract economic term "pigs in the wind" as unsettling remnants of meat, creating a brutally cautionary landscape by forcibly dragging the commercial buildings depicted in the work into a primitive, decaying natural setting.

Those dried pork strips hanging from branches also reflect another, more brutal reality: "failure means the demise of the flesh." Today, as the real estate bubble bursts and the value of purchased houses plummets on a large scale, it indirectly leads to economic crises in some middle-class families. Through a deep insight into collective speculative psychology and mass disillusionment, the work criticizes the pursuit of speculative windfalls and the aesthetic deception caused by capital bubbles. When the wind stops, those pigs that once soared in the sky will ultimately pay the price of their bodies' dismemberment, settling the bill for their return to reality.
